Antique Pool: Swim Among Ancient Ruins Guide

The Antique Pool, also known as Cleopatra's Pool, is a unique thermal pool located within the Pamukkale-Hierapolis archaeological site. What sets this pool apart is the presence of ancient Roman columns and marble fragments submerged within its warm, mineral-rich waters. Swimming in the Antique Pool is a truly unforgettable experience, allowing you to relax and rejuvenate amidst the remnants of a bygone era. Legend has it that the pool was a gift from Mark Antony to Cleopatra, although there's no concrete historical evidence to support this claim. The pool was formed by an earthquake that caused the collapse of a colonnaded structure into the thermal spring. Over time, the pool became a popular spot for bathing and relaxation, and it continues to attract visitors seeking its therapeutic benefits and unique ambiance. Visitors to the Antique Pool can swim and soak in the warm, bubbling waters, surrounded by fallen Roman columns and marble blocks. The water is said to have healing properties, beneficial for skin conditions and overall well-being. The pool area also has changing rooms, showers, and a cafe where you can relax and enjoy refreshments. While there are no specific culinary traditions directly associated with the pool itself, you can find a variety of Turkish restaurants and cafes in the nearby Pamukkale village offering traditional dishes.
